hey , so I have made a collection and name one of them " Tshirts " and now inside the collection between the text " Tshirts" (collection banner) and the “products grid” I want to add few options in a horizontal manner like —> " All Workout football cooking " basically give them an options to choose their niche in tshirts collection . Any way it could be done ?
Hi @Aarij ,
‘All Workout football cooking’: can you explain more about it, will it be a link, filter, or something else?
I will check it.
Like a filter
Hi @Aarij ,
Refer https://dawn-theme-default.myshopify.com/collections/bags
is it the same as the filter supported by the Dawn theme?
Yes but I don’t want it to be under filters but be between the tshirts title and porducts
Hi there @Aarij . I’m happy to look into this with you! Which theme are you currently using? Are you looking to make any other customizations to your theme?
If you are using an Online Store 2.0 theme you could do this by creating a new collection page template that is only applied to your “Tshirts” collection. This means that when your customers go to your “Tshirts” collecton page, they will see a page layout specifically designed for this collection. To add an area like you described to the template I would recommend designing this template with a Collection list section at the top of the page that links to your more niche collections like “Workout”, “Footbal”, or “Cooking”. You can read more about using page templates on this page and you can read more about editing your theme with sections and blocks on this page.
I also wanted to include an example of what I’m describing. In this example I’m using the theme Dawn.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Hey ,
so im working with dawn theme and inside the collection list I made a collection called “Tshirts”
now I’ve attacked the picture down below as to what option i want to add if possible (or any other similar option) . so i wanted help to see if customers could navigate within different niche inside Tshirts collection.
Hi @Aarij . It sounds like you have one main collection called “Tshirts” and you would like customers to be able to navigate to your niche tshirt collections at the top of the page, above your product grid (for example, the niche collections “Workout”, “Cooking”, “Dogs”). Is this correct? If so, I think the best way to do this would be the method I described in my previous reply. To clarify, would you like this same section to appear on all of your collections, or only when customers go to your “Tshirts” collection?
My suggestion for this would be to add a Collection list section to your Default collection template. With a Collection list section you can connect your niche collections to the blocks in that section. You can also move the section to the top of the page, above your product grid. When this is set up, customers will see links to those niche collections above your product grid and they can click them to navigate directly to the niche collection they choose. You can read about using sections and blocks to design your templates here.
If you want this section to appear on all of your collection pages you would just need to add the Collection list section to your Default collection template. However, if you only want this section to appear when customers view your “Tshirts” collection, then there will be additional steps. In this case, you would need to create a new collection page template, design it following the steps above, and then you would need to apply the new template to your “Tshirts” collection only. When this is done, customers will see your new template (with the niche collections) when they go to your “Tshirts” collection and the rest of your collections will display the regular Default collection template. You can read more about creating and applying page templates on this page.
Here is an example of what this can look like:
In your screenshot it looks like you might also be trying to set this up as a menu on your collection page. This would require a third party app or some custom coding because the menu in your header is set up to stay the same on all of your pages, even your home page. If you want the navigation to all happen within your main menu you could connect your niche collections to your main menu like in the screenshot below. This guide explains more about setting up your menus and navigation.
Don’t hesitate to reply back if you have more questions. Please also let me know if I’m misunderstanding anything. I want to make sure I help out with this.
so above all my collections such as “hoodies” , “tshirts” and other collections i would like my customer to be able to choose their niche .
I like the idea you gave of keeping a new collection list inside the collection and ill follow that but before that I wanted to ask if it’s possible that instead of seeing the picture of the niche they only see the text . basically above the main product grid(which I’ll set as the “All” niche ) I don’t want to confuse my customers with pictures but instead would like if they see simple text options to choose their niche .
so is that possible that they can scroll between niche’s without seeing the picture that comes along with the collection list ? if not I will go along with your method of simply adding a collection list with the picture included .
Hi @Aarij . To use the collection list section without those collection images you would need to remove the image from the collection altogether. To do this go to Products > Collections and click the collection you want to edit. You will then be able to remove the image from the Collection image section. Once this is done the page will look like the first example I shared. You can also edit how this looks even more using the settings within your theme editor.
Try that out and let me know if you have more questions. I’m happy to help if you do.
