If my customers make a purchase over 50 dollars it doesn’t charge shipping fees, how do I change that?
Have you set your shipping rates?
Check out this guide if you haven’t set it up yet: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shipping/setting-up-and-managing-your-shipping/setting-up-shipping-rates
Hello, @Brecklewis24 .
It’s a great idea to add free shipping for orders over $50, having free shipping can be the difference between a customer abandoning the cart or completing the sale. The steps for this are as follows:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Shipping and delivery.
- Next to the shipping profile that you want to add a shipping rate to, click Manage.
- Next to the zone that you want to add a rate to, click Add rate.
- Enter the name and amount for the rate.
- Click Add conditions.
- Select to base the condition on price.
- Now, you can add your condition - in your case, orders $50 or more = free shipping
- Click Done, and then click Save.
Do you use any kind of upselling app currently? If your customers are already in buying mode, free shipping makes it easier to rationalize making the purchase and to reach the free shipping threshold. In fact, 48% of consumers will add extra items to their carts just to qualify for free shipping - using an upsell app can be a great way to achieve this. You can view a list of these apps here, I would definitely recommend reading over the options to see which one might work best for you. I trust this helps!
Hi Ivy (although it is 2 years later so whoever receives this), I have followed the instructions above for my store (mvseasalt) but yet my customers who are purcahsing $50+ in goods are still being charged shipping - a flat rate of $10.95. What did I miss? Please advise.
Hi, @MVSeaSalt .
Thank you for reaching out! I don’t have access to look into your shipping rates so it is hard for me to know why your customers are being charged but it does mean that you still have a shipping rate set up to charge for orders over $50. Could you send me a screenshot of your current shipping rates? I should be able to tell from that why customers are still being charged.
