How can I adjust the location of the order notes box in Dawn 2.0 theme?

Hi. I have the new Dawn 2.0 and this theme does not give and option for adding “order notes” in the cart section. I have so far successfully added in code manually, to get this option onto my cart page. However, it looks awful as the text box (where the customer would write the text) is right next to the text (see image). Is there a way to change this so that the box can be underneath?

Thanks

It’s hard to give any solution without seeing a public website url of the problem to inspect or the actual code.

Generally wrap the text in a paragraph tag solves such issues as in most themes this will cause a line/row break.

Make sure to test “order notes” feature as shopify has specific html/form syntax for such things

Hey, @adam118 ! Welcome to Shopify Community!

You can continue with the coding customization to add a cart note, however, I’d like to let you know that there is a native option for adding a note to the cart page in the Dawn theme. If you wish to add it, you can follow the steps below to do so.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes.

  2. Click Customize beside Dawn to open the theme editor.

  3. Click the dropdown menu at the top of the page and select Cart.

  4. On the left sidebar, click Subtotal.

  5. On the right sidebar, check Enable cart note.

  6. Click Save.

I understand you need the cart note for product customizations. This is a great use for the cart note, but if you wish to make the customization more streamlined for your customers, you can instead use an app. A product options app, such as Variant Option Product Options, is able to add a text box within the product page. Customers sometimes skip the cart page so they may miss the opportunity to add the text there. When the option is on the product page, you can ensure that the customer can enter their customization of choice.

I use the Variant Option Product Options app in my store and it works really well. It’s free, the support is great and the app is very easy to use. Feel free to give it a go by installing it in your store. If you have questions about it, you can contact the app’s support team using the contact details under the Support section in the listing.

am having - Apple pay is not appearing in cart ot checkout even though I
have turned it on!

Thanks,
Adam.

I have the Dawn 5.0 theme and in Customizer > Cart > Subtotal there is no option for notes:

It says “No customizable settings available.”

If you still don’t see it upgrade your theme to the latest version is 6.0.2 as I’ve confirmed in that version as of this date to have a cart note setting.

@adventmedia Make sure you are clicking the section name “Subtotal” and not the block "subtotal

price".

You can also find it in the general theme settings > cart > cart note :

Oh, thanks. I had looked at the Subtotal block and not the Section.

@adventmedia your welcome, the UX for editing sections and blocks is very easy to get confused.

@Summer theme editor feature - it needs to be more clear when we are editing blocks , and that there should be a “section settings” drop down just like “theme settings”.

Adventmedia experience isn’t unique i’ve done it myself countless times as well , it’s is an example of how the current visual theme editor is ambiguous where in the settings context you are inside theme. That gets compounded backtracking to section settings that can sometimes be compounded by scrolling if you click back to many times exiting the section.

Appreciate the feedback, @PaulNewton . This is very valuable. I’ll pass your suggestion on to our development team.
