Many products we sell are light weight but large size. For example, the box is 12" x 15" x 25" and only weighs 10 lbs. The problem comes when a customer buys 2 or more items, the general shipping profile assumes that they all fit in a single box when calculating shipping. I don’t think this is fixable in the basic shopify shipping system. I probably need to find a shipping app to help with this.
My question is, can you assign a different default package if you create a custom shipping profile? We have some small products that can ship in an envelope, but the default package for the general profile is large as I described above. I’d like to create a custom profile for the small products, but it doesn’t appear that I can change the default package that’s applied to that custom profile.
