How can I assure successful cancellation of my online store without ongoing charges?

Not as simple as advertised. I have a store on my website (BAZAAR at bluebirdawards.org) and need another platform with greater visibility. Etsy is awful no customer service worth mention in a positive way. I have too much with my own website mission to spend time with this unless I get help. MAJOR ISSUE NOW … I NEED A PASSWORD TO CANCEL AND DELETE. NO WAY TO GO FROM THERE TO HANDLE A PASSWORD CHANGE? ARGH! ALL THAT ADDS TO THE CONFUSION FOR A NEWBIE WHO FEARS GETTING CHARGED ON A CREDIT CARD. SIMPLY TERRIBLE.

Shopify is easy to start … difficult to administer and impossible to cancel with certainty. Get through all the steps only to end up on another time-consuming password merry-go-round. HELP needed to assure cancellation without fear of on-going credit card charges.

Hello There,

Apologies for your experience.

Once, you cancel and uninstall all connected apps on your store then you can proceed with deactivating your store.

For security reasons, Shopify Support can’t deactivate your store for you, you need to deactivate the store yourself following these steps. If you have any questions about the process, then you can contact Shopify Support.

Hi, @Anonymous .

That is definitely a frustrating experience! We do have the password protection in place as a security feature to prevent bad actors from closing stores. If you can’t remember your password we do have the option to reset your password.

In the meantime, I see you mentioned that Shopify is difficult to administer. I would love if you would take the time to elaborate on this, as your feedback is extremely important. We are always looking to improve, and our goal is to be accessible to even the most novice user, thus your feedback will allow us to do that.

If you continue to run into issues closing your account, please let me know, along with the specific context surrounding the roadblock.
