I sell products worth $100+. Is there a quick way to add a photo of the items/packages being shipped? Attached to the Shopify order? So we can have a history of the packages sent in case of a dispute?
Hi @Anillo87,
Is this photo for internal use? If so you can attach it as a comment in the order as follows
Hey @Anillo87
There’s already similar topics like yours created by others, feel free to check those out as they might be helpful for you.

Yes, this is definitely possible.
The quickest and most reliable way is to use an app that allows you to upload and attach photos directly to the Shopify order timeline (for example, photos of the packed items before shipping). These images stay saved with the order, so you have a clear history in case of disputes or chargebacks.
Alternatively, we can also set up a simple internal process where photos are uploaded as order notes or files linked to the order, depending on your preference.
- SnapPack: Package Photo Proof
- Guse - Simple Image Upload
- File Upload, Image Upload
- Upload-Lift Image Upload
You can explore any of the app listed above.
Hope this helps.
Shopify doesn’t have a built‑in feature to attach photos directly to orders. To keep package photos for dispute protection (e.g., orders $100+), you’ll need to use order notes, metafields, or third‑party apps that allow file uploads and link them to the order record
Like others have suggested you’ll need an app like SnapPack for this.
Basically you type the order number and take the photo of the package, and it saves it on the shopify order page as well as on the history page. It also sends the photo to the customer automatically, but you can disable that if you only want to use it only for private control.
This is the how-to video they have on the app page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olxoq82XCQg
I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and so far it works very well. Hope this helps ![]()
Hi,
Documenting the package condition is a smart move for high-value items! The apps mentioned above are great for creating that “visual proof” at fulfillment.
However, based on experience with disputes and chargebacks, a photo proves you shipped it, but not necessarily that it arrived safely. To better protect your $100+ orders, I’d recommend adding two layers of defense alongside the photos:
-
Indisputable Tracking History: Consider using a dedicated tracking app like 17TRACK. It syncs detailed carrier events globally. In a dispute, a comprehensive tracking report showing a clear “Delivered” status (with timestamps) is often your strongest piece of evidence against “Item Not Received” claims.
-
Shipping Insurance: Since your ultimate goal is financial security, adding Shipping Insurance is a solid strategy. Apps like 17TRACK offer coverage for delays, damage, or loss. If something happens in transit, the insurance coverage helps protect your revenue, so you aren’t solely reliant on the carrier’s claims process or the bank’s decision on the photos.
It’s a small step that gives you much more peace of mind for those expensive shipments. Good luck!
Hi,
Hope this will help
- Use the “Timeline” at the bottom of the order page to upload photos directly from your phone. It’s free and stays as a permanent internal record.
- Create an “Order Metafield” in settings to have a dedicated upload field on every order page for better organization.
- For high volume, use apps like Photo Proof to automate the linking of photos to orders via barcode scanning.
