How can I auto-update inventory for bundled products with variants?

Good morning,

I have a slightly complicated combo and I have been looking for a solution for days!

I have a product (let’s say it’s a camera) with 2 different variants (color, size). This camera it’s always sold with a cover. The cover by default has to be the same size of the camera chosen and also the same color (so meaning, the cover has variants).

The customer just sees a normal camera to buy, he doesn’t have an option to choose the cover. I just want the cover to me removed from the inventory.

When the customer selects the variant of the camera (let’s say, a black, size M), it should automatically select the variant of the cover that go with it (let’s blue cover, M size).

It’s like the customer doesn’t know that it’s a bundle, it’s only for us internally for the combo product to be removed from the inventory.

P.S. Someone suggested to give both the camera and the cover the same SKU, but then if someone just orders a cover individually, it will remove a camera from the inventory, when in reality no one purchased one.

I hope this is something you can do as I have been trying with several apps with no avail!

With your issue, I think the solution should be separating the camera and the cover as 2 different products. And then on your camera product page, you can include a section (like a Frequently Bought Together product) that contains the cover with variant swatches. So your customer can choose to buy the cover or not, or they can even choose which color and size of the cover they want. You can include some copy writings to make sure that your customers see the importance of the cover and they must choose the right size.

Even though this solution can be not what you looking for, I think it the most proper for you. Because as my experience in website UX design, the best way is to leave the options for customers. If they can choose whatever they want, the conversion rate will be better.

Thank you so much for taking the time to suggest a solution, its really appreciated.

That being said, for my specific product (which is actually not a camera), the sub-product must be sold together with the main product, it cannot be a choice.
