How can I automate gift card usage instructions email in Cowlendar?

Hi,

A client offers users the option to book workshops (via the app Cowlendar).

We also offer the ability to ‘gift’ a workshop to a friend via a gift card. Currently the customer receives the automatic gift card email with the coupon, but we want to also send them an automated email with instructions on how to use this (e.g. follow this link, book an available workshop date and use the gift card code in the checkout).

I’m trying to automate this using Shopify automations but no luck so far - I tried adding a custom Metafield, see screenshot links below but any orders of this gift card are not entering the funnel - does anyone have any suggestions?

There’s a flow subforum where you might get more feedback on how to resolve this in flow.
