I assumed that my Shopify would update the inventory after each order is fulfilled and surprisingly I realized that the inventory numbers are not changing after the item leaves the warehouse, can you please advise of an automated solution?
I just realized that the inventory is actually getting updated using Shopify system.
I don’t have a third party application installed for managing inventory, so do you Think if we need one?
Many Thanks
It depends on the size of your business. Managing your stocks manually with spreadsheets is only possible when you are small. When having a new store or warehouse, it’s hard to keep your inventory updated in real-time across all of your channels.
In the long term, if your business is growing well, you should take advantage of an inventory management system.
Shopify deducts the inventory quantity as soon as a sale is made. That said, as others have pointed out at some points it is much easier to have all the inventory tracked and managed separately in an inventory system.
The inventory system will enable you to allocate inventory around to different bin locations so that you know exactly where the inventory is located. As orders come in from your various channels, the inventory system will assemble a digital pick list to go out into the warehouse, scan the bin, and scan the product so that all orders are packed with efficiency. Next, an inventory system will help you package items up with the right package material, and finally to purchase a shipping label based on the box size and weight. Using SKUSavvy you can do this directly within the platform and across any device.
I am working on a solution to help sellers with inventory tracking and drop the spreadsheet, with added options to track against POs and push stock live into Shopify.
I would love to chat and learn more about your business to get feedback on my solution and maybe help you out right away. Let me know what you think
