Hi there, I have a large number of collections and I need to change the default images once a week to keep my pages looking fresh and selling new products - same as most I’m sure.
My question… it would be great if I could choose my new images every week and give them a default name (or whatever else would work) and have them automatically change on the front end.
I did this on another e-Commerce platform by uploading the images into the database with the same names - which meant they over wrote the old images and all changed simply on the front end.
I tried uploading a collection image to assets but the collection images are imported into the cdn so even when I change the image it still refers to the initial image.
I’m thinking perhaps metafields will work? Would you say that’s the best way or are there other options or metafields “issues” to consider for collection images?
This is a great question! At the moment, Shopify does not have a native feature that would allow you to change the collection images in bulk automatically. However, I can definitely see the benefit of having this feature on your online store so I am going to provide this as a suggestion to our developers to hopefully include this in the future.
With that being said, I would suggest reaching out to a Shopify Expert if you are interested in hiring an individual to assist you with creating this workflow.
It could be possible to use a third-party application to assist with bulk updating the collection images, for example Bulk Image Edit ‑ Image SEO.
@Ollie Thank you so much for your response and suggestions. I would be ever so grateful if you would provide this as a suggestion and in the meantime I’ll have a look at the apps and/or chat to a Shopify Expert.
