How can I automatically add a free tote bag to a customer's cart?

In our store, we have a promotional offer: Purchase any item, and receive a complimentary tote bag. To streamline this process, I would like to ensure that when customers proceed to checkout, a tote bag is automatically added to their shopping cart. Could you please provide guidance on how to achieve this?

To avoid interrupting the purchase process when offering a tote bag as a free gift, you can set up a Buy X Get Y or Spend X Amount Get Y promotion using an app like the BOGOS App.

With this setup, the free tote bag will be automatically added to the cart once the conditions are met, so customers won’t need to search for it or add it manually.

You can now automate this with a free Shopify app for automatic gifts or bundle deals. Apps such as Automatic Discounts & Gifts or Bundler – Product Bundles allow you to create rules so that the moment a customer purchases a qualifying product, the tote bag is added to their cart automatically.

For a no-app card script solution, you can also use a cart script (Shopify Plus) that inspects the cart and automatically adds the tote bag when the conditions are met. This makes the gift show up at checkout without the customer having to add it manually.
