How can I automatically add a gift product to every order placed?

Hi,

I want to add gift card product after every order place. I don’t want to show gift product in the cart or checkout actually the client doesn’t want to visible gift product to customer. I just want to add gift product after every order place.

is there any custom solution or there is any free app ( not paid ) that can do this ?

I can definitely understand the desire for this kind of feature. While it isn’t supported natively this could be programmed through an app or custom API for your store. What you are asking is not a very simple procedure, to add a discounted product to the order without it showing in the cart.

There are a few apps like this one: Automatic Free Gifts which is free to install and adds a free item to the cart for your customer, but it doesn’t keep it hidden. If you are looking for a hidden free item or a way to create a draft order with the free item after the order is placed, it is most likely going to require a custom app or paid for app from the app store to accomplish. If you are able to find a solution to this please feel free to share it with us here so other merchants can do this as well.

Hi there,

I ran into the same issue so created an app that does exactly this! It doesn’t show at all during the checkout and email process as shown, but if you revisit the order details page the items will be visible. Shopify currently doesn’t provide a way to hide those items from the end users!

Perfect for free gifts, expanding bundles to more accurately track inventory, and of course custom packaging and marketing inserts.

Shopify is not allowed to make any post-checkout product additions quietly. The best workaround is to auto-issue a gift card after the order is created using Shopify Flow or a small custom app triggered on paid orders. The present remains concealed, no effect in the cart, and no paid app is needed except a smidge of custom setup.
