How can I avoid automatic translations for product names?

Hello, I need to skip translations on product names because the automatic translation looks very weird.

Is there a way to do it?

Hey @Silgar , we offer ‘whole store’ translation or one resource at a time. To get the effect of skipping product names, do the whole store translation, then export the CSV (Settings > Languages > Export) and delete rows until you’re left with just Product titles. Make column H blank, and then reupload, overwriting existing translations. This will result on a store that has auto-translation for everything, except product titles.

I am trying to upload the CSV file but I get the error message “failed to fetch”.

To see were the error is, I have tried to upload the file without any modifications, and I get the same error.

Do you have an idea of what can be wrong?

Hey @Silgar - I wasn’t able to replicate the error but I was able to fix. The CSV attached your CSV cut down to just the product titles. I uploaded this and looks like all the German product titles have been removes (apart from you had 7 in there which I figures you might want to keep, so I left those). Hope that’s working for you! If in the future I have the same problem, how can I fix it myself?

What I did was take the CSV, delete every row I didn’t need (i.e.
everything other than column A: Product, column C: title), and then make
sure column H was blank. Then import, with ‘Overwrite’ selected.

Uploading blank with overwrite selected = deleting translations.

Hello. I have also followed these instructions but have a different error to report. I’ve attached a screen shot example of incorrect translation (left) which I exported and the version I had edited correctly for importing back into Shopify (right).

I get the following error messages. How can I do anything with different columns though when all text is within the same column? I didn’t edit anything in row/line 23 so not sure that that error means as well. Thanks for any help!
