How can I avoid Stripe account suspension due to website verification issues?

Hi,

Recently my friend had his account on stripe suspended due to not being able to verify their website. Can someone who uses stripe please give me some advice what to do so I don’t have the same problem because they didn’t give him any reasons. Also, stripe says that I need to build my website on my own and don’t use any access from third- parties websites- which for me sounds like shopify? I am lost at the moment and I am worried they might refund the clients like they did with my friend after he already sent the products…

Based on what you described it sounds like your friend was not able to provide the appropriate documents needed to verify their business. This process of verification is called KYC: “Know Your Customer” obligations : Stripe.

This process is to ensure that your business is legitimate and can be trusted by the payment gateway to process payments on your behalf. If you are not able to verify your business registration information then the gateway may choose to not support your business any longer. Each gateway is different in the information they may request. Stripe is one of the providers that powers Shopify Payments and you can see what may be required by Shopify Payments here: Setting up Shopify Payments · Shopify Help Center.

You will want to ensure that you have that information available for your business so that you can supply it upon request from your gateway.

Stripe is a payment gateway that is supported for Shopify merchants depending on the country their business is located in.

I am not sure exactly what Stripe is referring to in this case and I would recommend contacting Stripe support for additional clarification. Do you have a business hosted on Shopify? If yes, are you actively connected to and using Stripe from within your Shopify admin?

I am just starting my shopify website and I am choosing a payment provider so that’s why I am making research to not have the same problem as my friend…

I can confirm that Stripe is one of the supported payment gateways for Poland and you should be able to activate the gateway with your own Stripe account from within your Shopify admin.
