First thought here is that this specific package âPriority Mailbox 4â isnât supported at the moment, but Iâm going to do some additional digging and see what I can turn up.

Hey @Metanoiabychi ! Thank you for chiming in. Could you shed some light on how you make it work? Which box do you select in the dropdown menu, since this one is not listed?
Earlier today, I used the Regional Box A in-lieu of this Box 4, assuming the USPS wouldnât complain as its volume is greater (and therefore I end up paying a bit more). Itâs a Band-Aid, but not a solution.
Hoping you have a more robust solution than I have.
I created a custom package with the dimensions of the the box and and weight of the box without anything in it. So then when I ship I select my custom box which I have named Priority Mail Box 4 and put in the actual weight of the packed box and then pick from my shipping options given using USPS Priority Mail. I have yet to have an issue. I hope this helps!
Apologies for the delayed reply - just wanted to make sure I did enough digging that I was confident I left no stone un-turned!
So I touched base with the Shipping Team about this package type. Long story short - this particular package isnât support by our Platform currently. This explains why you donât see it in the dropdown. In terms of âwhyâ - it looks like when Shopify negotiates itâs premium label rates with carriers, itâs not always able to secure optimal rates for all available package types. Priority MailBox 4 is one of those. A bummer, for sure, especially since this package type seems to be increasingly popular around the holidays.
Iâve gone ahead and passed feedback along to the Team regarding the desire for this package type to be supported. As with most requests, I wonât be able to comment on a timeline, but the Shipping Team is aware of the value having this package supported would bring, and itâs comfortable on their radar for future consideration.
@Metanoiabychi brings up a work-around that I also found during my research. Many folks seem to be using just a custom package and then purchasing their labels/determining shipping costs around that custom package. This works for some, but it sometimes shows your customers a shipping rate of a lower value than what youâre actually paying, so you may see some additional spend in shipping using this method. With that being said, you can give it a try and see if it works for you!

I am new to Shopify but I do e-commerce and the priority mail box you are talking about goes as cubic shipping. Not sure on shipping options here but it is offered with a free account at pirateship.com with good discounts.
