Why did you want to cancel your subscription? If you’ve been on a paid plan for 60 days and you’re looking to step away from your store temporarily, you can go on the Pause and build plan at a reduced cost of $9 USD/month. Your checkout will be disabled but you will still be able to log into your admin and work on your store under this plan. Customers can still access your website too. Once you’re ready to start selling again, you can simply select a plan anytime to resume.
If you wish to stop selling indefinitely, you can follow the steps below to cancel your subscription and deactivate your Shopify store.
- Log into your Shopify admin.
- Go to Settings > Plan.
- Click Pause or deactivate store.
- Click Deactivate store.
- Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
- Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.
If you change your mind and want to continue with your store after closing it, you can reopen your store and select a plan by logging in. Your data is guaranteed for 2 years so you can pick up where you left off if you decide to reopen.

Do you still have access to your store and are you currently logged in? If so, please refer to this guide to reset your password. Otherwise, you may follow the steps on this page to reset it through the login page. Please ensure you enter a new password that’s never been used before to avoid any issues with the reset.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve decided to deactivate your store. What was the reason behind the decision? Was there anything in the platform you didn’t like or you found difficult to work with?
