I logged into Shopify yesterday. I had an older account that was re-activated. I created a new store with a new store name. My issue is that the shopify link for the store is an old one I used many years ago. How do I change the link to reflect my new store name?
Are you trying to change the URL of your store? For example the “my-store-name” part of “my-store-name.myshopify.com”?
Unfortunately there’s no way to make that change in Shopify, since that URL is not intended to be a public-facing way to access your store.
Instead, the best practice for Shopify is to buy a domain name and then set it up to point to your store.
Hope this helps!

I’m Miles from the Social Care team at Shopify. I just wanted to elaborate on what @alexmarse said. When you sign up for Shopify, you choose a .myshopify.com URL. You can’t change your .myshopify.com URL, but you can buy a custom domain name through Shopify or from any third-party domain registrar, which you can then make your primary domain - which is what your customers would see.
Before setting a primary domain, make sure that you:
From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Domains.
In the Primary domain section, click the Change primary domain.
Select the domain that you want to set as your primary domain.
Click Save.
If you buy your domain through Shopify, here’s a handy guide to help you set it up.
Lot’s may have changed at Shopify since you left, so make sure to read up in our Help Center if you get stuck at all. I recommend checking out Shopify Compass. Shopify Compass provides you with webinars and courses on things like store design, marketing and more. It’s 100% free for everyone and new content is being added all the time. This program will help you drive more traffic into your store and also convert that traffic into sales.
