How can i change product url from number to product title

Hello ;

I upload the products . but product url is like www…com/products/123456

i want to chnage them like www…com/products/(product title )

can i do that bulk or automated becouse i have more then 1000 products

thanks

I believe you need to edit the page title for SEO purposes. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Edit a Product:

    • Go to the Products section and select the product you want to edit.

  2. Find the Search Engine Listing Section:

    • Scroll to the bottom of the product page to find the Search Engine Listing section.

  3. Edit the Page Title:

    • Update the page title as needed.

For bulk updates, you can use the import CSV feature. The page title can be found in the corresponding column in your CSV file.

Can we change the texts in this cell with a pattern or a code? Because it is really difficult to do it one by one. For example, something like (=product title)
In short, I want to do something like that.
www.******.com/product/[product title]

You can bulk update SEO titles in Shopify using the product export/import method. Here’s how:

  1. Export Products: Start by exporting your product list. This is the same process as bulk editing products.

  2. Edit the File: Open the exported csv file and delete any columns you don’t want to change, like descriptions. Keep the columns for handle, title, Image Src, and SEO title.

  3. Update SEO Titles: Update the SEO titles in the corresponding column.

  4. Import the File: Import the file back into Shopify. Make sure to select “Overwrite products with matching handles.” This will update the columns you’ve changeded in the CSV file. !!!Please make sure to test first, because this will overwrite the products!!!

To ensure everything works as expected and to avoid any unintended changes, it’s an idea to test this process first:

This way, you can verify that everything updates correctly without affecting your live products.

Alternatively you can use a public app to do this bulk update.

So how to update the handles in bulk is pretty much answered in this thread.

But I just want to add, for SEO you should:

  • Setup redirects in bulk from old → new URLs.
  • Test they are working correctly with a tool like Redirectinator or ScreamingFrog
