How can I change the text colour on my slideshow using the Empire theme?

Hello!

I cannot change the colour of the text on my slideshow image on my main page. I have the option in the theme editor, but when I select other colours, it remains black. I need to change to white text as my image is a bit darker and the black cannot be read. Using Empire theme.
