How do I test to see if customers will be able to download a digital file once their payment goes through?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some assistance with ensuring the app Digital Downloads is operating as expected for customers.
The best way you can confirm this, would be through completing a test order. This allows you to confirm the entire checkout process is functioning as expected and all settings for order processing (i.e inventory, shipping, etc) are correct.
As you are looking to test the functionality of an app, I’d recommend placing a test order with a real transaction. This allows you to use a real payment provider, and then immediately cancel and refund the order. For more information on this, I recommend checking out our Placing A Test Order documentation as it touches on the possibility of being subjected to processor and third-party transaction fees.
To complete the test order, you can:
- Make sure that you’ve set up the payment provider that you want to test.
- Make a purchase from your store as a customer would, and complete checkout using genuine credit card details.
- If you’re using a third-party payment provider, then log in to your payment provider and make sure that the funds were processed.
- Cancel and refund the order as soon as possible to refund yourself. Any third-party transaction fees that have been charged are not refunded.
