Hello, I’m super new to selling on Shopify, and I was wondering how I’m able to check the status of my shipments. I’ve been purchasing labels for my orders with shopify shipping, and it said they automatically add tracking numbers. I’ve clicked “view order status page” and it addresses me by my customer’s name and tells me my package has been accepted and that they’re getting it ready. I can’t tell if that’s supposed to be me saying that to the customer, or if that’s the post office talking to me, haha. I’m a bit confused. Any help would be appreciated ![]()
Hi,** @cherryfullart **!
If a tracking number is available for an order, clicking on the tracking number link will allow you to track the order from the shipping carrier’s website. This is what the customer sees on their end if the system has sent them a shipping notification email, which is why most of the tracking link would be addressed to the customer rather than the store owner.
I’ll leave some resources below for further reading on Shopify Shipping, as well as fulfilment and shipping guides in general:
Apart from that, how are things going with your store?
Hi there, I suggest you install some order tracking app(for example Track123) to help your customer track their order more easily.
Usually in the default order tracking page, if a customer clicks the tracking number, he will be redirected to the official courier website. But if you install Track123 and add the branded order tracking page to your store, your customer will be able to track shipments in your store.
Check this demo: Order tracking page.
Hope this helps.
Hey there!
No worries at all — we’ve all been there when starting out!
When you click “View Order Status Page,” that page is actually what your customer sees. So, when it says “we’ve accepted your order and we’re getting it ready,” that’s your store talking to your customer, not the post office talking to you.
Since you’re using Shopify Shipping, the tracking number is automatically added, and you can check the real shipping updates by clicking the tracking link inside the order details (in your Shopify admin under “Orders”).
Moreover, if you’re looking for a clearer way to track all your shipments and have more control over what shipping statuses are shown, you might want to check out the Shopify order status app.
Hope this clears it up! Feel free to ask if you have more questions — you’re doing great! ![]()
Hi @cherryfullart , like many people mentioned above, you can save the cost and free your hands by automating the whole order tracking process for your customers. Some third-party apps can help you design a branded order lookup page and send shipping updates automatically to your customers.
Keeping your customers aware of their order status during the delivery of the parcels will enhance their shopping experiences, which should not be overlooked if you’d like to retain your customer loyalty.
Insurance and tracking
”Depending on what you’re selling and its value, shipping insurance and tracking can offer a great deal of security. With most ecommerce shipping companies, insurance and tracking is relatively inexpensive and provides you recourse should one of your packages get lost or damaged. Some shipping services like UPS and USPS Priority Mail include complimentary coverage for up to $100.Consider purchasing insurance on big-ticket items so that, in the rare cases when a package does get lost, you’ll be covered. Keep in mind that some shipping services have insurance already built into the price, so consider this when you are comparing various courier prices.”
