Hi I need help please,

I have my 1st discount % of specific collections “Gels” set up on automatic. Then I added a Buy x Get X free discount on a code. this one was set up as spend X amount on Gel collection and get Free Base from base collection. Both the codes show they can combine at checkout. But when I try it out an error comes up saying Freebase code can’t be used.

Tech says it’s because I’m using the same collection in both discounts.

Buy £ of gels and get Base free.

has anyone found a solution.

Hey Dorsetnailstudi,

If I’m understanding you correctly, then I believe it should be possible (as you’re offering a “product discounts with other product discounts”).

Here’s the official help doc: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/discounts/combining-discounts/discount-combinations

There are five types of discount combinations:

  • order discounts with free shipping discounts
  • product discounts with free shipping discounts
  • product discounts with other product discounts
  • product discounts with order discounts (only available to eligible merchants)
  • order discounts with other order discounts (only available to eligible merchants)

I’d recommend double-checking that both of your discount codes have the “combinations” settings applied to them. If only 1 (or neither of them) have the “combinations” applied, then it won’t work.

Hi Stephen, Thanks for your help.

I have set it up now as a product discount and product discount. Discount 1 is 30% off specific collections, discount 2 free base when you spend £49 or more.

this also does not work. I have combinations to mic turned on.

the 30% works fine but the 2nd discount will not work.

Edit: so it should be possible to combine 2 separate ‘product discounts’.

“product discounts with other product discounts”

It could be possible that your first discount is bringing the order total down so much that the 2nd discount doesn’t apply.
