How can I configure my primary domain to automatically go to the WWW site?

Hello,

I have a site in which the primary Domain is configured with WWW, as well as all the canonicals. If I type on Google, it shows me all the links with WWW. Although, my sitemap has all the links without WWW.

Pretty confusing, right?

As you can imagine with this sitemap Google is wasting time - I want to make it easier for him to access and crawl my site, so it needs to go automatically to WWW site.

What do I have to do?

I already tried to ask to shopify to modify my sitemap but until now, nothing has happened.

Hi, @andrefreitas28 !

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say Google is wasting time with the sitemap?

The sitemap file is located at the root directory of your Shopify store’s primary domain name. If your primary domain uses the www structure instead of without then you can use that for verification. The sitemap file is automatically generated and links to separate sitemaps for your products, collections, blogs, and webpages. It’s automatically updated when you add a new webpage, product, collection, image, or blog post to your Shopify online store. The process can take time and Google doesn’t guarantee how long it takes for your site to be crawled. All the best!

Hi Oliver,

So, I have two stores.

One has the primary domain defined on shopify backoffice with WWW and the other is defined with non-WWW. But, both have the sitemap with non-WWW links.

I have the canonicals, href lang tags with WWW and the sitemap is with non-WWW. Doesn’t make sense.

I want to show to Google Bot the same information across all the places where can access and navigate through my site. Are you understanding?

Hi, @andrefreitas28 !

Thanks for confirming that. Your sitemap will always be formatted in the non-www format as you’ve mentioned. We submit the top level domain because of the variety of subdomains that exist. www is quite common, but with a couple exceptions you could use anything at all. With a sitemap that can’t be edited, this is the best course of action. Our domain routing is configured with efficiency and good search engine optimization in mind.

Warm regards

Ok, I think I got it.

But, I was looking to other shopify stores and I found that this one has the sitemap with WWW links:
