How can I correct the search result link for my online store?

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner is experiencing an SEO issue where search engines display a collection page labeled “homepage” instead of the actual site homepage in search results.

The Problem:

  • When searching for the store, a collection URL (coaisatec.com.br/collections/frontpage) appears rather than the main domain
  • The collection page labeled “homepage” contains no content
  • Two screenshots were shared showing the incorrect search result

Recommended Solutions:

  • Complete basic SEO setup by adding meta-titles and meta-descriptions to all products, pages, and collections with relevant keywords
  • Add more content to the actual homepage to help Google differentiate it from the collection page
  • Avoid placing text within images (like hero banners), as Google cannot index text embedded in JPEGs; use theme sections or slider apps instead
  • Allow time for Google to re-index after making changes
  • Consider integrating Google Search Console to submit specific pages for re-indexing and monitor results

Once the homepage has more content and proper SEO elements, Google should recognize and display the correct page in search results.

How do I get the right link to appear in the search?

Hi @LUCKE_FELIPE ,

you should do a basic SEO setup first. Go to every product, page, collection etc. and at least fill out the meta-title and meta-description with proper descriptions and relevant keywords.

Then, try to add more content on the homepage. As of right now, there’s really not much more content on the homepage compared to the collection page, so it’s easy for Google to confuse them.

Most of the text is in the hero banner/slider IN the jpeg. Google can’t work with that. Rather use a slider app or the sections given by the theme to enter those text as an actual text overlay. Alternatively you can also add more sections below with descriptive and informational texts.

Then, give Google some time to properly index your page. Once you get more visitors and have more content on the page, Google will quickly realize which page is your homepage and will show that in the search results.

If you can’t see any changes after some time (at least a few days after the mentioned fixes), you can look into integrating Google Search Console. The GSC gives you an option to submit a specific page for re-indexing by Google.
