How can I create a new template for the products?

For most of my products I have used the default template. I have used the ‘alternative-product-comprehensive’ in Product 1 and I totally preferred the look of this template on the product page. I have edited it etc. according to that product. I have then changed the templates on all my other product pages - just to find out that the edited content from product 1 is now showing in all the other ones. If I edit it - it edits it on all the other pages.

Is there a way I can create a different template for each product?

Or is there a way of this alternative template to allow me to change its content in all product pages.

Hi @LSAccounting ,

You can totally create a different template for each product within the theme editor:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize

  2. Select Products from the page selector then click on Create template

  1. Edit the template then save it.

Next, you’ll need to assign products to each template:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

  2. Use the search filter to locate the product that you want to change, or click on the product from the list of existing products.

  3. In the Online store section, use the dropdown menu to select a new theme template to apply to the selected product.

  4. Click Save.

You can refer to this Shopify guide.

I hope my answer helps.

Thank you. That is great.

This is also a solution I have found on the Templates section of help.shopify.

‘‘Any changes you make to a template will impact all pages that use that template. If you want to display some pages of that type differently, then you can create a new template based on one that already exists in your theme. Creating a new template from an existing template automatically populates your new template with the same sections, which you can then edit to remove, add, or hide sections as needed without impacting the display of other templates of that type.’’

I mark my questions as solved only after I have enough time to prove them working or if I don’t have any further issues with the solution. However, thank you for the reminder.
