How can I custom code accordion tabs for Impulse theme?

I am currently migrating my Minimal store to Impulse. I found this brilliant tutorial online about custom coding accordion tabs that are a better UX than the standard, but it is written for the free themes eg Dawn.

I’ve had a crack at tweaking it to work for Impulse but I’m not getting very far, and wondered whether anyone can help me please. I think on Impulse the code would start at around line 164 on product-template.liquid

I’d really like to use the full width layout too, which the tutorial doesn’t cover.
