Hello! I have a problem if someone can help me, regarding the Dawn theme at product page there is the collapsible row, I added some information about the product itself, but if I modify that at some other product it’s going to change for both and have the same information. How can I do that every product to have it’s own additional information in the collapsible row? Thanks.
Hi, @BudeanuJr . I’m happy to help you out with this! What kind of information are you adding into your collapsible rows?
It sounds like you may be editing the information for your collapsible rows directly within your theme editor. When you edit pages or products in your theme editor you are actually editing a template that is applied to the pages or products you’ve created within your admin. For example, if you add text into the Materials block in your theme editor, you are actually editing your Default product template and you are adding that text to every product using that product page template (which is all of your products, by default, unless you manually change it). You can read more about theme templates here.
Instead of editing your product information within your theme editor, you want to edit this using the product content settings in your Shopify admin. You can get there by going to Products and selecting the product you want to edit. Since there won’t be a space automatically built in to enter information for your collapsible rows, you will need to use metafields to create this space. Metafields can help you save and display information that isn’t usually captured in the Shopify Admin. You can find the steps to do this here. That being said, there are ultimately three steps:
- Create the metafield definition by following these steps.
- Add the metafield value to the correct part of your admin by following these steps.
- Connect metafields to your theme by following these steps.

Hi, @BudeanuJr ! Yes, this is possible. The method I described is how each of your products can have their own additional information. The reason the information you enter is appearing on all products is because you are entering it into your Default product template using your theme editor, instead of using the product settings in your Shopify admin.
The steps I shared previously will help you add additional information to each of your products. If you’d like to update your products in one go, rather than one at a time, I recommend using the product bulk editor. This will allow you to update the information for each product you select, all on one page (so you don’t have to click into each product separately). You can read more about using the bulk editor here.
You should be able to have more than 100 words in a product description. I tested it out on my end and I didn’t notice any problems. I can look into it further if you’re noticing an issue when you try to enter more than 100 words.
