I have a small website selling a limited amount of products. Due to the varying size of the products, I have had to create two different rates for shipping with different products assigned to both;
Small: £8.34
large: £10.20
This works fine apart from when a user selects products that belong to both rates, as it combines the price of both and I would like it to default to the large rate.
So it charges £18.54 for shipping when it should be £10.20.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community! Shipping Profiles are a great feature that provides the ability to create customized shipping rates for specific products, locations and regions. If however, multiple profiles are created, or include multiple locations, then combined rates are expected to occur.
Combined shipping rates are due to customers ordering products from different profiles, which leads to the separate shipping rates being added together at check out. For more information on this, you can refer to our Combined Rates at Checkout documentation. Due to this, you can look to the Shopify App Store to allow for separate shipping rates to be calculated moving forward. I’ve gone ahead and recommended a few you can check out:
I’ve also made note of this limitation with our Developers, as I can completely understand the impact it may cause. We are always looking for ways to improve the platform and appreciate your feedback!
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
As @Blair mentioned when using multiple shipping profiles, if orders contain products from different profiles or locations, this will result in combined rates at the checkout. Currently, the only available workaround would be to use an app to set up more specific shipping rules. Along with the apps mentioned you can also check Multi Carrier Shipping Label App.
