The below link is to a page that was added to my website without my knowledge and permission. It was identified on my Google Search Console as a page that has been crawled but not indexed. Vendors is not on my list of collections. How do I remove it? Thank you in advance.
Topic summary
Multiple Shopify store owners have discovered unauthorized spam pages appearing on their websites, typically under /collections/vendors URLs with suspicious query parameters. These pages promote third-party services (like gaming currency and lingerie sites) and are being indexed by Google Search Console despite not being intentionally created by the store owners.
Key Issues:
- Pages contain encoded/reversed text promoting external commercial sites
- Appearing across multiple different Shopify stores simultaneously
- Not visible in template code or admin panels
- Being crawled by Google, potentially affecting SEO
Current Status:
- No one has identified how to remove the malicious code
- Shopify has not yet responded to affected users
- The widespread nature suggests a potential security vulnerability or compromised theme/app
Users suspect this is a spam injection attempt to gain free backlinks and boost external sites’ Google rankings. The discussion remains unresolved with participants seeking guidance on removal methods and official Shopify response.
Hello,
we have the same Problem. Please help us!
Having the same issue. Google picked it up while indexing my site, but i can’t find it anywhere in the template code. I searched the text and it seems to be in a ton of other stores’ code as well…
Shopify needs to respond to this and tell vendors why there’s hidden code in their templates pointing to a sketchy store. Seems pretty sktchy/scammy to me, like someone is trying to get free links to boost their site on Google…
I’m also having this same issue! I got this page randomly show up on my Google Console and I have no idea how to remove it
Same issue. Can’t figure out how to remove the code.
Has Shopify gotten back to anyone?
