Hey, Dear Crew.
Try to connect my website with one of my domain, but it shows the domain has beed connected to an existing shopify shop.
We think the domain has been connected to a shopify which was previously deactivated by shopify.
We wonder if there any way to get the domain disconnected from the previous store, and connect to the current one.
we have been frustrated by this, since this is the best domain which aligns with our brand name.
wish shopify team could help
thank you

Hello,
Welcome to Shopify community.
Do you have access to old Shopify store which was deactivated? If yes, you can disconnect your domain from that store first and then connect to the new one.
Have you purchased the domains from Shopify or somewhere else?
Hello @WalkingL ,
It’s flareAI - your Fully Automated Free Sales Machine here. We are helping Shopify merchants providing solutions for the last few years in Shopify Community.

If your domain is connected to another store, then you need to verify domain ownership to fully connect the domain to your store. You can verify the domain automatically or manually.
Refer this documentation on verifying ownership of your domain.
After verifying the domain, try connecting the domain under Online Store > Domains > Connect existing domain.
Steps to connect your domain to Shopify:
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
- Click Connect existing domain.
- Enter your domain, and then click Next.
- To confirm that your domain is connected to your Shopify store, click Verify connection.
If you found the answer helpful consider supporting the Shopify Community by giving it a Like + Accept the solution.

Hey
Very much thank you to the response
No, i am no longer able to gain accesss to the account since it was deacticated by Shopify.
The domain i purchased from Godaddy, and everytime i try to connect to a new shopify store,
it shows up the warning which my domain has connected to a existing shop even after i moved all the NDS routing.
Have tried to reach to various customer service, but got no luck as convo proceed, as to my guess, since my account is deactivated by Shopify, most cutomser service arent willingly to help.
So wonder if we still able to figure out way to create a new account, since this is most ideal domain we have.
Thank you
Hi, @WalkingL .
Thanks for reaching out and posting to the Shopify Community.
I’m sorry to hear you previously experienced issues communicating with customer service in regard to your domain.
As @flareAI has mentioned, you will need to verify proof of ownership of your GoDaddy domain, which can be done with the documentation shared above. Once you’ve verified ownership, I recommend contacting support through the Shopify Help Center so we can determine what next steps can be taken to disconnect the domain from the other store.
When navigating to the help center you’ll need to log in to your store, select Store settings > Domains > Connect a third-party domain. On the following page, scroll down to Get Support to view our available support options.
Let us know if you have any questions during your store setup.
Hey, Victoria
First of all, thank you for the response. After I followed step by step process as how FlareAI suggested, it still suggests that there is a failure for verification. Well, it seems like the verification
was failed due to the frozen store that the domain is previously connected to.
I have a screenshot attached down below, and i did try to reach out to support, but the customer support arent able to provide further help due to its a frozen store.
It seems to me the frozen store is the leading cause of the issue, where every process i could possible go thru will circle back to frozen store, and therefore fail the verification process.
would really love to see if someone in the Shopify could provide genuine assistance.
Thank you
Thanks for your response, @WalkingL .
If the store is in a frozen state, we may be able to remove the domain from the
store. However, in order to do so, you’ll have to go through our Shopify Help Center for authentication and security purposes. Our team will then need to review specific information on the frozen store and take the appropriate next steps. I encourage you to reach out again, as this process is best handled by our support team through the help center. We are not able to authenticate your account or take a look at the backend through our community forums.
