Hi,
With the new tax feature allowing VAT to be based on shipping location (“Include or exclude tax based on your customer’s country”), I need a way to show 0% VAT for those excluded countries. I am based in the NL and therefore am required to collect Dutch VAT for EU countries. At check-out, there is a separate line that states the VAT (which is already included in all our pricing as required).
What I would like to do is have that same line, except it would show 0% VAT collected. Currently with the new tax feature, during check-out after the customer adds their country, Shopify provides a note that says the price has been adjusted based on their country. This doesn’t show as the price less VAT, but as a magically reduced price. It makes no reference to VAT.
Currently, checkout looks like:
1.) On a ship to EU: Product xx €125 Subtotal €125 Shipping €9 Total (Including €23,25 EUR in VAT) €134
2.) On a ship outside EU: Product xx €103.31 Subtotal €103.31 Shipping €9 Total €112.31
Product is listed at check-out as €125, then changes to €103.31 when a non-EU country is added as a ‘ship to’ with no reference to VAT at all
Ultimately, it would look like:
1.) Ship to EU: Product xx €125 Subtotal €125 Shipping €9 Total (Including NL 21% VAT €23,25) €134
2.) Ship outside EU: Product xx €103.31 Subtotal €103.31 Shipping €9 Total (Including 0% VAT) €112.31
So the two things I’d like to do is edit the VAT line to add NL 21% VAT instead of just the total VAT amount and to add 0% VAT when VAT is deducted for a non-EU country. Is this an easy solve?
Thanks
