How can I display a collection page on a custom URL in Shopify?

Topic summary

Seeks a way to show a collection-style, filterable product listing under an existing custom page URL in Shopify. Current flow: create a password-protected team store page for pre-orders; after closing, swap to a “store closed” page with order status and updates.

Problem: leftover inventory is resold, but customers cannot filter by size/style on the team store page; they must click into products to find sizes that are out of stock. Collection pages offer filtering via apps and can show only in-stock items, but they exist at a different URL (typically /collections/…), and some apps work only on collection pages.

Goal: keep the known URL (e.g., URL.com/pages/your-custom-store) while switching between templates:

  • Team Store
  • Store Closed
  • Remnant inventory (collection-like page with filters)

Key question: can collection page functionality (including apps limited to collections) be replicated on a custom page template assigned to the existing URL?

Status: no solution or decision provided yet; the discussion is open/unresolved.

Let me give a little bit of context. Our business is essentially all pre-orders. We make custom apparel for teams. So our process is such that we design products/uniforms for a team, and then create a store (a Shopify page) just for them and they direct their users to that password protected page in order to buy. Once the pre-order is closed, we flip that page template from their team store page to a “store closed” page, where people can check their order status and sign up for updates. This all works really well.

Here’s where I need the groups help. We always have remnant inventory from that team. What we do now, is we switch the products up to stop selling when out of stock and update the inventory quantities, then invite users back to the store. The problem with this is they don’t have any way to filter the store down to the sizes/styles that they want - they have to click in to each item to try and select a size only to know it’s out of stock. The collection page would work great for this - I can get an app that allows to filter on size/gender/etc… and set it up to only show in stock items. The problem with the collection page is that it lives at a different URL. Is there a way to recreate all the functionality of the collection page, including apps that ONLY WORK ON the collection page, but in a custom page that I can assign to the URL my users already know?

So URL.com - MediaOptions can display theme template:

  1. Team Store
  2. Store Closed
  3. Remnant inventory/collection page

Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks in advance for any ideas.
