interesting question! For security reasons, it is not possible to edit the checkout beyond what you can do in your theme editor:
You could put a gif or image in the banner of your checkout:
And you can make a few edits in Settings > Checkout and Accounts in your store admin. This doesn’t really apply to images though.
What were you thinking of adding and how do you think it’ll improve the checkout experience?
