Ok, but I was wondering if it would be possible with some code editing. The 3d model don’t has to show up by selecting the variation, just clicking on the AR icon should open the right model.
E.g.
If first variation selected → show the FIRST 3D model by clicking AR icon
If second variation selected → show the SECOND 3D model by clicking AR icon

Fira allows you to display individual 3D models for different variants. that seems to be what you want to achieve.
With Fira you can create the 3D models only using your smartphone (record a 1min video of the product and upload to the app).
You can then display those models anywhere in your store. They are optimized for performance and customers have been pretty impressed with the effect on their conversion.
In your case, you would simply take individual videos of each color and upload them. Fira would then create a model for each color and you can then control when each model should be shown on the product page. When the user changes the variant, the 3D model is automatically updated to the correct variant.
If you want, you can just recreate the 3D models using Fira. Then you would be free to display them anywhere, either with drag&drop in your theme editor or with a code snippet (individual snippets for each model, so you have full control).
