How can I edit individual product information in drop down boxes?

Topic summary

Issue: Dropdown boxes on a product template show the same content across all products using that template. The poster wants unique dropdown content per product rather than global/template-wide text. A screenshot illustrates two dropdowns but does not change the core issue.

Proposed approach: Use Shopify product metafields to store product-specific values and connect the dropdowns to those fields so each product renders its own content.

  • Metafields: Custom fields attached to products to hold unique data (e.g., materials, care, specs) displayed dynamically on the product page.
  • (Related term) Metaobjects: Structured content types in Shopify; can be used, but basic product metafields are sufficient for per-product dropdown text.

Current status: The original poster reviewed the metaobjects page but is confused and asks for further guidance on implementation. No step-by-step solution or code was provided yet.

Outcome: No resolution; needs clearer instructions on creating product metafields and binding them to the dropdowns in the product template/sections.

Hi Community

I am having trouble well the problem is not actually getting the drop down boxes on my template, but the problem I’m having is once I have set it up as a separate theme for said items I can not seem to edit said drop down boxes for each product, its either edit the content of the boxes for all the items under this theme and they all have the same information in the drop down boxes or not have the boxes on at all?

Example given below… so I can get it to this point but if I change the information is these 2 drop down boxes it changes it for the whole template? how do I change the information separately for each product?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey @jssales

You can use the product metafields of shopify to show the unique content of each product.

Thanks

around it unfortunately.

Any help would be appreciated.
