How can I edit the shipping method error message in checkout?

Hi,

I am trying to change the text in this section of my checkout. Currently, I only offer local delivery within a boundary and when you use an address outside the boundary I get this message. I have attempted looking inside the Theme Content section of my online store under Checkout and system. I have not been able to find this error message. Does anyone know where I would be able to edit this?

Thank you,

Chris

Hello @suprman1117 ,

As per my understanding you are looking to change the default error message that is appearing to your customers when they enter an address outside the delivery boundary.

You can change the default message by follow the following steps -:

  1. Go to your Online Store, then click Theme https://prnt.sc/q_5FXxCnApnI

  2. Next click on the three dots, and then select Edit default theme content. https://prnt.sc/bygnPnRoxxOS , https://prnt.sc/8tIjOXf2xF5m

  3. Click on the Checkout & System tab. https://prnt.sc/4lYRqibim8bi

  4. Next scroll down and search for “Checkout shipping errors shipping method not available generic” and change the default message text with your custom message. https://prnt.sc/qW4TP6NoRIeZ

  5. Save changes https://prnt.sc/D05jxpneChDK , https://prnt.sc/MN0iste4IaZL

I hope this helps.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello,

I am trying to do the same thing (for different reasons), but am getting the following when I try:

The option to edit the text is greyed out; I can’t edit it.

What I’m trying to do:

We sell lots of items that can’t be shipped ‘traditionally’; they must be picked up by the buyer or sent via freight carrier. I’ve created specific shipping profiles and altered error text to force the buyer to pick “Pickup in store” to complete checkout, as we’ve had way too many customers click “Ship” (and ignore the messaging about freight shipping that went along with it). The messaging I want to appear is working in Chrome:

…but it is not working in Firefox (and the same goes for Safari):

An error message (the one I’m trying to edit) appears, but not the one I’d hoped for. Since the other error message doesn’t show, I figured a workaround would be to edit this message - the one that does show, immediately above - to say something along the lines of, “Please check product details for shipping/pick-up info or review your address to ensure it’s correct.” but it looks like I am unable to edit that text.

I’ve also looked into editing the checkout messaging, but came across this:

What options do I have?

Thanks for your help.
