I want to add a vendor to the vendor list that appears on the sidebar of my homepage. But cannot for the life of me, figure out where that list is, let alone how to edit it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Are you referring to this aspect of your collection page(s):
If so, what theme are you using by chance? In short, themes will typically automatically pull these sidebar filtering options (such as Vendor) from your product fields in your admin. In your case, the Vendor field for your products.
