How can I effectively set up email automation for tracking numbers on an eCommerce app?

Hi guys!

  1. I’m wondering and a bit confused between sending the tracking number to customers by setting it up in the shopify notification section and the shopify email app. Between the two, which one is better and how do you set them up appropriately and still effectively?

  2. In Shopify email app, you cannot add tracking number to email. And I also want to add order status to the workflow but the shopify email app currently does not support it. Is there any solution that doesn’t cost a lot but is still effective?

We have some automation templates for emailing things like order status to customers, that you should be able to easily tweak for your use case:

Send an email when a package is “In Transit”

Also note that Shopify Email can’t send emails to non-subscribers.
