Hi Shopify Community
I am a brewery owner and I need help in understanding something about inventory management.
Our website sells beer in a pack of 6, 12 & 24 not individually if it is the same beer and I also sell the beers individually but in a bundle. I just want to know how I can track the inventory of any beer sold as a pack or in a bundle.
To make things more clear we don’t sell individual cans just packs of 6, 12 & 24 or mix bundles of 6, 12 & 24. I want the inventory to show 6 units sold, not 1 pack sold as I want to track the beers sold in bundles as well, so I am always aware how many cans I have in inventory.
I will be really thankful if anyone can help me figure this out.
thanks
Hi
You can manage your inventory by bundling up each pack against the single item SKU. You don’t need the single SKU available for sale but will just be used for managing your inventory and processing orders. You can test out our bundle app as it has 2 functions that would assist you:
Manage Inventory of Bundle
Our app lets you connect up products to component SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So if your scenario the quantity available of the multi-packs will be calculated based on the single SKU stock level.
Manage Inventory of Inventoried SKUs
When you sell one of the bundles the stock level of the component won’t reduce automatically. What we do is update the order post purchase by replacing the bundle order line with the component SKU as order line which then reduces its stock. This then feeds into point 1 above where it updates the multi-packs that contain the component SKU.
If you need help in setting up and testing please get in touch. You can also find our guide here:

Hi @DaveRoss
This is Jun from Bundle Kit.
Our app is able to meet your needs as it is primarily a bundle inventory management system so it will also be able to track the SKUs for variants of each product.
The bundle inventory is automatically set based on the available inventories of the bundle item(s), including the inventories of the variants. Proper quantity will also be taken out of the inventory of each bundle that is being purchased.
You can create bundles using our app. We have step-by-step instructions here: https://help.bundlekit.io/creating-a-multi-pack-bundle
Let us know if you have any questions.
Hey @DaveRoss I can tell you right now this will be a challenging scenario to find something suitable for your use case. This is because what you need is a way to create bundles in real-time based on what your customer has selected as their 6/12/24 units for the bundle. The pre-made bundles are fine, and it will be a lot easier for you if you only offer fixed bundles instead allowing customers to select whichever products they want because there are few if any solutions on the app store will will create ad-hoc bundles for you depending on what your customer has purchased (not ChannelUp/BundleKit either they still pre-assembled kits ahead of time to my knowledge).
You should consider selling your product by the single, but have limitations on the cart size, this would be a suitable solution instead of trying to limit the product type and most of the bundle or inventory apps will be able to accommodate this. SKUSavvy is a full warehouse & inventory management system with kitting included, but again it will require pre-made kits as opposed to ad-hoc kit creation based on the customer selection - give it a try, it’s free
