hi everyone,
I have a question regarding inventory tracking.
For example: If products come in 3 colors (vanilla, green, black) I have repeated each product 3 times using the same inventory amount for each product for each color, however, when someone purchases a black colorway, inventory only updates from one product page deducting the purchased colorway. The rest of the same product pages where the “black” colorway also is an option invent does not update.
Can I do the following to fix this issue? - Each product will show all colorways for each page. If 1st colorway is showing the vanilla colorway will have all the inventory tracked here and for the rest of the colorways showing the bottom of vanilla as another colorway option, I can show 0 inventory. Then for the 2nd colorway, let’s say, green will show inventory there but vanilla will show 0 inventory..etc this way each colorway will only have what actually we carry. Will this work?
Hi
Not sure why you are duplicating the products as you may not need to do this. However, if you need to set it up this way you would need to bundle each copy up against the original product you wish to control stock of.
For example:
Product 1 - SKU ABC
Product 2 - Bundle of SKU: ABC
Product 3 - Bundle of SKU: ABC
You would assign different SKUs for the duplicate products but then our bundle app will let you connect up all your products to original SKUs. The app then updates their inventory based on the component stock level. So in above example if you update your inventory of product 1 then the other products will also update automatically.
When one of the bundled products sells we split the order into the original SKU so inventory continues to be updated for all linked products.
