I have a shop with over 10,000 customers in the list but a lot of these are duplicates, test emails, etc and need to be deleted. What is the best way to quickly delete them from Shopify?
Initially, I was thinking:
Export customer list CSV
Edit CSV
Import updated CSV
But I’m not sure if that will automatically remove the ones I deleted in the CSV?
Importing an updated CSV won’t remove customers that you deleted in the CSV file.
Instead, you can add a tag in the CSV file to the customers that you want to delete. After importing the updated CSV back to Shopify, you can filter customers with the added tag, select all customers matching the filter, and finally remove the selected customers using an option in ‘More actions’.
Exporting and modifying the CSV file doesn’t remove customers in Shopify automatically. The best way to go is to use Shopify’s bulk editor or an app that can find duplicates and invalid emails, and delete those in batches. This way you keep your list clean without accidentally importing again the entries you don’t want.
