How can I embed YouTube shorts while maintaining vertical aspect ratio?

Topic summary

A user is attempting to embed YouTube Shorts on Shopify pages or blog posts while preserving the vertical aspect ratio.

The Problem:

  • When using YouTube’s standard embed code, Shorts display horizontally in full-screen format with empty space on the sides instead of maintaining their native vertical orientation.
  • The embed code itself appears correct, but Shopify’s rendering defaults to standard YouTube player dimensions.

Attempted Solutions:

  • Standard YouTube embed options don’t provide a vertical format option under the “share” menu for Shorts.
  • The user included example embed code showing width=“320” height=“560” parameters, but these settings aren’t being respected when published.

Current Status:

  • The issue remains unresolved, with another user experiencing the same problem and seeking the solution.
