How can I enable custom collection filtering on Shopify 2.0?

Hi Shopify & Community,

I am looking to enable custom collection filtering as I was able to do in my Expanse 1.0.5 theme. Now that Shopify supports filtering on their native platform, is there a way to add a custom collection title? For example, “City” is a critical product filtering that happens on my store and is part of the user experience. How can I add this back into my store on 2.0?

Did you figure out how to do this? We’re facing similar issues, and now that we can’t filter by tags anymore I really don’t see a solution to this.

I figured this out using shopify app’s. They do support custom filtering
and has worked with my Shopify 2.0 theme.

Right now I am using Smart Product Filter and Search which has a 21 day
free trial. There are a few more options out there as well.
