Local pick-up is an option on my Shopify website but does not show as an option on my Facebook Shop. How do I change this setting?
Topic summary
Issue: Local pick-up works on Shopify but does not appear as an option in Facebook/Meta Shops checkout.
Key findings:
- Facebook reportedly only uses the main shipping profile and does not honor Shopify’s local pickup settings. No in-Facebook setting was found to enable local pickup.
- Several merchants removed Facebook Checkout and sent customers back to Shopify checkout to retain local pickup; Facebook Shop used mainly for product discovery/ads.
Latest updates/workarounds:
- Local pickup “does not appear to be available anymore” in Meta Shops.
- Workaround: create Meta shipping profiles (in Meta/Commerce Manager) limited to a local area and price them to cover local delivery. Then map products to those profiles by editing the catalog data feed to set shipping_profile_reference_id to the corresponding Meta profile IDs. This is not ideal and may deter purchases due to costs.
- Some consider adding product text directing customers to the website for pickup.
Open questions:
- How to switch checkout back to the website from Facebook and whether product tagging will still work—no clear answer provided.
Status: Unresolved. Consensus is that in-store/local pickup is not supported in Facebook/Meta checkout; reliance on workarounds or redirecting to Shopify.
I have been trying to find this same setting for 3 days and cannot seem to find it anywhere. So frustrating. Local pickup for me is a big deal on Facebook.
So to anyone looking for the same resolution, there is none per Facebook. They only look at the main shipping profile. I have since decided to remove FB Checkout and pointed it back to Shopify.
I’ve been trying to figure this out and it’s way later then lst post. So it says it does shipping using In my shopify shipping I have local pickup setup on it and it works fine. But if someone uses fb shop it will not give local pickup as option. I changed to facebook checkout cause of new rule going into affect in 2024 but guess I’ll have to reset to checkout on shopify. I guess this is a facebook issue or something?!?!?!?
That is my understanding per Facebook. I have no problem with my local pick up option for my local sales directly through my website, but this same option does not carry over to Facebook eventhough I have the pick profile setup on Shopify. They state that they can only utilize the main shipping profile. I was so frustrated to learn that. However, by directing them back to my website has worked fine. Facebook is just not understanding how to cater to small business. It is a shame really. So my shop is really only an advertising platform and that is pretty much it.
How do I switch it so that it directs them to my website instead of Facebook store? Does this mean I can’t tag products anymore?
Did you find out how to change settings?
Facebook does not appear to have a Local Pickup option available anymore. I created a shipping profile in Meta that only ships to my store’s home state and charges enough to cover expenses for an employee to deliver. Not a solution I love because the cost of shipping will keep customers from purchasing on Facebook. I might investigate adding content to these products directing customers to the stores website for Local Pickup. In order to change shipping profiles for items I had to edit my store’s data feed to set ‘shipping_profile_reference_id’ to the IDs matching the Meta shipping profiles I created. I’m not a Shopify user so I am not sure how to specifically do that in Shopify. I hope Meta can get it together because In-store pickup is FUNDAMENTAL! So frustrating!
