Our store is not charging any sales taxes at all.

What is the easiest way to have Shopify start adding sales tax to the price of all of our products?

Hi there, @jeff29nc !

Thank you for your post. If you’d like to learn more about how taxes work on Shopify, I recommend reading over our help document which provides an overview, as well as country-specific links.

In order for taxes to be charged on your products, you need to set up sales taxes in your Shopify admin. You can navigate to Settings > Taxes and duties where you’ll see settings on how taxes are charged, as well as the option to set up tax collection in the applicable countries. You can find general tax set-up steps (as well as country-specific guidelines) in this help document.

Once you have your tax information inputted and configured in your admin, you’ll need to ensure that your products have the charge tax on this product setting selected, as shown here:

This setting is turned on by default, so you likely won’t have to adjust your product settings. I do, however, recommend looking over all your products just to double check. You can do this easily using the bulk editor. Here’s an example from my test store which shows which items have taxes being charged on them:

This may have been a lot of information to take in, so if there’s anything else you’d like me to clarify, definitely let me know. If you’re located in the U.S., you do also have the option to hire a Shopify Expert who specializes in U.S. sales tax. Shopify experts are highly-skilled designers, developers, and consultants who specialize in building successful brands, businesses, and Shopify stores. Each expert is reviewed before joining the marketplace, so you know you can trust them to get the job done. These Shopify experts who specialize in tax can help you with setting up the taxes in your Shopify admin as well as provide guidance on your tax liabilities.

I hope this helps!
