We’ve recently opened a wine shop and are offering local delivery for our customers. When doing a regular checkout on Shopify, there’s a tip option/box which works great. But many of our customers are using the Express Checkout options (Shop Pay and Google Pay), but when they go that route, there’s no option to leave a tip. Any suggestions on how to enable these on these payment methods?
The Shopify checkout tips feature doesn’t work with outside payments (reference from their manual).
If you want to accept tips from any payment, you can use Tip Jar. That will allow you to put a tip widget anywhere in your website (except Shopify’s checkout area).

Same question here. Did you ever find an answer? I understand not being able to add tips on outside payment gateways but I’m surprised you can’t on Shop Pay.
As an aside it is so frustratingly difficult to search out any help on Shopify Tips feature because any search with the word “TIPS” yields “Tips” as in ‘helpful tips and tricks’.
