How can I export orders with variants using Dynamic Product Options?

Topic summary

A merchant using Dynamic Product Options cannot export or print packing slips that include customer-selected variants. Currently, they manually write variant details on packing slips printed from Shopify’s orders page, which is time-consuming.

They’ve tested free export apps without success, as none captured the custom options. The merchant is hesitant to add another paid app but open to solutions that save time.

Suggested Solutions:

  • Report Toaster: Can export product options stored as line item properties; support can help configure the necessary fields.
  • Export Variants & Files: Successfully used by another merchant facing the same issue; displays all custom options on exports and packing slips (demo available on YouTube).

The discussion remains open, with the original poster yet to confirm which solution they’ll pursue.

I currently use Dynamic Product Options as a variant app for my store. I am unable to either download or print packing slips with any of the variants the customer chooses. Instead, I print the packing slips from the Shopify orders page and hand write everything in so I can fulfill orders.
I’ve tried a couple of free export apps in an attempt to export these orders with the variants to save me some time, but none have listed the options.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I really struggle to pay another monthly fee for an app to be able to do this, but I guess if I have no other options, I will to save myself a bunch of time.

Thanks in advance!

Hi there - our Report Toaster app can export product options with orders, as they are normally stored in the lines item properties. If you want to take a look and install the app, you can get in touch with support and we can get the fields setup for you.

I had the same issue — ended up using Export Variants & Files, it shows all the custom options on exports/packing slips (demo: YouTube) and saved me tons of time :raising_hands:.
