I was going to enter records needed to verify my domain through mailchimp. I made a typo and went to deleted what I had done but I clicked on the wrong CNAME record and now it will not verify and I’m not sure how to fix it as I don’t know what CNAME record is missing to do so.
Topic summary
-
Issue: The user accidentally deleted the wrong DNS CNAME while attempting domain verification via Mailchimp and now cannot verify the domain; they don’t know which CNAME is missing.
-
Recommended fix: Recreate the CNAME with host/value “www” pointing to “shops.myshopify.com,” as outlined in Shopify’s instructions. Ensure the A record is also correctly configured (A records point the root domain to an IP address; CNAME maps a subdomain like www to another hostname).
-
Hosting/DNS control: If Mailchimp is the domain host, contact their support to resolve any issues saving DNS changes, since the fix must be applied with the host.
-
Reference: Follow the steps in the Shopify Help Center for exact DNS record values.
-
Status: Guidance provided; no confirmation of resolution. Discussion remains open.
Hi @hippyhub ,
Is Mailchimp your domain host? If so, please contact them directly if you’re having issues saving your DNS settings as the issue will need to be resolved on their end. The CNAME record you need is the value “www” and the record “shops.myshopify.com”. This is outlined on our Help Center; please make sure you’re following the instructions listed here and that you have your A record configured correctly too.
