How can I fix a pending SSL and transfer my domain to Shopify?

Hey There.

I am trying to transfer my domain back over to Shopify but I am having difficulties. I am seeing that SSL is pending (no idea what that technically means), not sure how to fix that. Also not sure if there is anything else I need to do to make sure my domain is connected properly with Shopify.?

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some assistance with your domain, to ensure it’s successfully pointed to your shop.

To share some insight, pending SSLs should naturally transition over to a provisioned state once the domain is added and pointed to Shopify. Due to this, I recommend checking out our Connecting Third-Party Domains documentation to confirm the DNS records are pointing correctly.

The DNS records should be the following:

  • Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
  • If necessary, change the Host name to the @ symbol.
  • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.

After checking the current domain, it seems there are multiple A Records attached. I would recommend updating this to ensure only one A Record is used (i.e 23.227.38.65) .

If however, after one week, the domain remains in a pending state please Contact Support to allow our advisor team to investigate further.
