Sure thing! You can close your account as shown in this guide and video tutorial. We also have 2 dormant plans available if that suits as mentioned here and if you would like to backup your store’s data to another device before pausing or closing the store then you can do so as mentioned in this guide. Some store data may be lost after 30 days so if you plan on re-opening the store at a later date then it might be best backup that info for sure.
This also includes steps on how to also cancel all apps integrated to my store to prevent any further billing.
Apps can be removed easily in your admin by selecting the “delete” button as shown in this screenshot or this guide. If you select the “Get Support” option, I’d recommend emailing the app developers directly too just to make sure that you don’t have an active subscription directly with them.
Currently my next upcoming bill for the Shopify subscription will be around 17th Jan 2021. As far as plans and payment goes, how do I make sure that I will no longer be billed?
When you close your store as mentioned above, you will no longer be charged for anything. Closing your store will completely stop your billing cycle unless you re-open the account later.
Also when I began setting up my store, I bought my domain name through Shopify. The domain name is only due for renewal on July 8, 2021.> > However once I’ve shut down my Shopify store, how do i get rid of the domain name? When you buy a domain (Shopify or third-party), then you’ll own that domain for the period of 1 year.
When you close a store, the system will automatically disable the auto-renew feature but you can always manually disable this easily beforehand as mentioned in this guide. Once disabled your domain will expire July the 8th, 2021. As you own the domain, you can always try to sell the domain with the help of a service such as Sedo or Godaddy too!
